Group Bookings

  • All visits and activities must be booked at least 24 hours in advance

  • VAT (value added tax) is not applicable – we are not VAT registered

  • Group sizes are a minimum of 4 people and a maximum of 20

  • 50% deposit at the time of booking is required to secure your booking. Full payment will be required four weeks prior to the date of the experience or at the time of booking if shorter than four weeks.

Visitor Information

  • Exmoor Owl and Hawk Centre makes every effort to maintain and provide all its visitors and organisers of groups with accurate information; all such information is subject to change, sometimes at short notice.

  • Published site openings are correct at the date of publication but may change without notice. The Owl and Hawk Centre will endeavour to give notice to any changes where possible.

  • The Owl and Hawk Centre accepts no liability to organisers or visitors for changes to site opening times, site restrictions or site closures.

  • Covid guidelines - social distancing and regular handwashing is required. 

  • All rooms are cleaned thoroughly at changeover, and bathrooms, bins and trays are refreshed daily.  We do not make the beds or handle personal belongings at the present time.


Experiences and B&B Pre-Booking:

  • All Activities and Bed & Breakfast accommodation will be subject to a 50% deposit prior to arrival, which will be confirmed by email at the time of booking.

  • The deposit is refundable up to 28 days prior to the booked date. After this date no refund can be given and full payment is required.

  • If we receive no notification of cancellation then full payment will be taken for no shows.

Exmoor Experience incorporates Exmoor Owl & Hawk Centre; Exmoor-Riding; Farmhouse Bed & Breakfast

Whether you fly with us, ride with us or stay with us ….. or just visit for the day to enjoy our flying display, we hope your time here will be a memorable, relaxing and enjoyable experience.


Exmoor Experience is situated within Exmoor National Park, 5 miles west of Minehead, just off the A39 at Allerford. Travel through the hamlet of Allerford, and our farm is ¾ mile along the narrow lane on the left.


  • The Day Visitor Car Park and Toilets are through the first gate into the Car Park Field. Horse Riding, Activity Clients and Day Visitors – please park in this car park area.


  • The Chapel of Ease is on your left.


  • The Horse Yard (Chapel Yard) is then on your left, and NOT open to visitors.


  • Bed & Breakfast guests: Please park on the grass at the front of the house where there are stones delineating the parking area. This is NOT a picnic area.

  • Horse Riding Holiday Guests please park in the B&B spaces


  • The House and Entry to the Centre is the 3rd gate along on the left hand side.


  • There are no street lights in the area or on the road, and if you arrive in the dark you will require a torch.


  • Dogs are welcome in the Garden and for staying Bed & Breakfast, but NOT allowed around the Centre with the birds and animals.


  • Please keep you dog on a lead at all times and 'pick up' after your dog as necessary.


  • We are accessible for wheelchair users and most people with specific access requirements, but you will need to check with us to ensure that your requirements can be met.

There is level access from the main entrance to:

  • Dining Room
  • Flying Display Field

  • The Owl Garden

  • The Stable Yards

however, the ground surface is gravel, grass, or stony. The ground may be uneven, and may have holes created by the animals. You are advised to take care.


There are several areas of ponds, streams and wildlife sections around the premises, and all visitors are advised to take care and to keep young children under control as necessary.  Paddling is not permitted - the water may be deep in places.


Access to the house is not available for Day Visitors.


ALL Bed & Breakfast Guests – including all short break holidays

Bed & Breakfast guests: Please park on the grass at the front of the house where there are stones delineating the parking area. This is NOT a picnic area.


Horse Riding Holiday Guests please park in the B&B spaces at the front of the house on the grass next to the stones.


The house is a 15th century dwelling with crooked floors, uneven stairs and steps on the first floor. You are advised to take care in the house especially at night-time when using the bathrooms. The downstairs hall lights are left on at all times.

Dogs are welcome for staying Bed & Breakfast, but NOT allowed around the Centre with the birds and animals. Please keep you dog on a lead both in the lane, in the garden and in the house. We have over 50 loose chickens around!

  • Please ring the bell when you first arrive to let us know you are here. There is an outside bell to the right of the door by pulling the rope

  • The front door is 600 years old. Please pull the string on the door to open; and the handle to close. To exit the door from the inside please lift the 'latch' to open.

  • There is an internal Bell on the Reception Desk in the Main Hall.

  • You will be welcomed with a cup of tea/coffee after your long journey.

  • The main stairs for B&B guests is 1.5m wide, with two hand rails. There is one step up to the two bedrooms on the upper landing.

  • There is one step down into the bathroom. Please take care.

  • The hall lights are left on at all times.

  • Your Bedroom Name is clearly displayed on the door of your room.


Dogs are welcome

  • Dogs are welcome to stay B&B but are not permitted around the Owl & Hawk Centre.

  • If you would like bedding for your dog please ask at time of booking your B&B

  • If you feed your dog in your room please use the boot tray provided

  • Please keep your dog on a lead at all times, both in the house and garden, as well as outside in the lanes and residential areas. Chickens roam free.

  • Please walk your dog in woodland areas on the hill opposite where you are not required to pick up after your dog, but in ALL other areas please pick up after your dog, and dispose of the bag in a sanitary way. Please do not leave your poo bags on the hedges or verges.

  • There is a small charge for dogs of £5 per dog per night to cover for additional cleaning requirements.

Travel by public transport

  • You can get to Exmoor Experience by bus or taxi.

  • The nearest bus stop is on the A39 at Allerford.

  • The nearest train station is Taunton on the main SW line to Paddington, London. The train station is 30 miles / 45km from the farmhouse.

  • The nearest Airports are Bristol and Exeter. We can arrange Taxi collection if you wish at your expense.
